Hello,
My name is Liz Kindellan and I am travelling to Ireland in June.
My husband is a livestock agent and he wants to go to a cattle sale (maybe a sheep sale as well), so I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions about where and when we could go to one.
We will be in the south of Ireland from 22nd June to 2nd July, starting and finishing in Dublin.
Thanks, Liz

Athenry Mart definitely worth a visit as one of the best attended sales in the West of Ireland. Only 2 hours drive from Dublin or very easily accessible by train also. Athenry and Galway are both well worth a visit if you have the time.

Thanks
John

Hello Liz

If your holiday plans include a visit to Northern Ireland, to explore the Causeway Coast and Glens region, with firm favourites such as The Giant’s Causeway, Bushmills Distillery and Carrick-a-rede Rope Bridge, then the following livestock market websites will be of interest to you, as they are within easy driving distance
http://ballymenalivestockmarket.com/
http://www.armoymart.com/about-us.html

You may also be interested in Agricultural Shows, on a future visit. Many of the local shows are held in May, the NI or province wide one, is Balmoral Agricultural Show http://www.balmoralshow.co.uk/
Best wishes  Siobhan

Hello Liz, you've already received some great tips for your trip this summer! As Brian already suggested, you'll find a complete calendar with events on the Farmers Forum, which I think might come in handy. :) For more tips and suggestions, take a look at the following Travel Information threads

Hi Liz,
I have received the below details from a colleague about cattle marts in the Waterford area – in the town of Dungarvan (half way between Cork & Waterford) a general cattle and calf sale is held every Monday at 11.30AM. The contact details are Cork Marts Dungarvan/ Email: info@corkmarts.com

There is also a Cattle Mart in New Ross (just outside Waterford) every Saturday - the Sheep sales start at 10AM, followed by the Calf sales at 11.30AM and the mart rounds off with the Cattle sales which begin at 1PM.
