Hello Moore,
Thank you for reaching out to share your experiences.
It's awful to hear about this situation and your experiences with one of the local accommodations providers, on top of an already challenging time which affects us all. I'd be more than happy to offer a bit of advice to help point you towards help.
Firstly, I'd like to begin by encouraging you to reach out to
Fáilte Ireland to inform them about your experience. As the National Tourism Development Authority, they're the ones supporting tourism businesses on the ground and they are continuing to monitor the situation in the current climate. For the sake of Irish Tourism, Fáilte Ireland actively advocates and promotes best practices for the benefit of all concerned.
As all tourist accommodation is provided by the private sector, as such, they are free to interact with their public in whatever manner they deem appropriate to their business objectives. While Fáilte Ireland does have a role in regulating accommodation, the legal contract of sale is between the guest and the accommodation provider. Regrettably, Fáilte Ireland cannot hold responsibility for how the private sector interacts with their customers.
In addition, I'd recommend taking a peek at the following websites, as they may be of interest:
The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission The European Consumer Centre I sincerely hope that this helps! And when you do pop by to see us again, I sincerely hope the good memories that you make will help to make up for this difficult and uncertain time.
Kindly,
Rochelle
