We're going to a wedding in Carlow in August but have two days/nights after the wedding to spend in Ireland. I was looking for romantic places with lovely restaurants and pubs that we can stay at, possibly on the coast south east of Dublin. We will be hiring a car which should broaden the field.

Any ideas welcome!

Hello Eifion,

What a wonderful occasion to be visiting the Emerald Isle for!  I hope that you have a really enjoyable time and experience.

With regards to your query, I would like to invite you to take a look at our recommended restaurants and pubs, here.  You can filter your search depending on where and what exactly you are looking for - I am sure that you will find something that really stands out!

As you've mentioned yourself, since you will be having a vehicle, this certainly broadens the field for a wider variety of options.  I would like to suggest taking a look at Bray or Arklow, which isn't too far from both Dublin as well as Carlow and are both situated along the beautiful east coast.

I am sure the many of our other community members will have some of their own suggestions to share with you in addition.

All the best,

Colin

Hi Eifion,

Great to hear you are visiting Carlow in August; hope you have a fantastic time at the Wedding.  If you fancy seeing a little more of the Midlands of Ireland and don't want to have to drive too far we are only around 1 hour 15 minutes from Carlow Town.  Kinnitty is a beautiful village at the foot of the Slieve Bloom Mountains, County Offaly, and you can come and stay with us for a night or two in an authentic 12th Century castle! Check out our great deals on our website www.kinnittycastlehotel.com
We have fantastic walking trails on site, you can take a horse trek in the Mountains or even try Archery!  Only 15 minutes drive from the Georgian Town of Birr where you can visit the stunning Birr Castle & Gardens, or only 20 minutes drive from Lough Boora Parklands where you can hire a Bike (we'd be happy to provide you with a picnic for the day).
If you need any further information please let me know, I'd be happy to help.
Kind regards,
