Choctaw monument in Midleton

Cork is near the town of Midleton. Here is the Kindred Spirits sculpture, unveiled in June 2017. This monument houses a moving story. During the Great Famine donated the native American tribe of the Choctaws to Ireland sum. Despite their poverty and forced to flee from their own country they helped the only nation other people living in despair. In gratitude this monument is placed above. It consists of eagle feathers in the shape of a bowl which represented a gift of a bowl of food. Very special was that during our visit last Sunday two people were present at the memorial which one person was a member of the Choctaws. With an Irishman she is writing a book about the monument, and the similarities between the history of the Irish and the Choctaws.
It's a beautiful monument and a moving and inspiring story. We were sorry when the monument here find nothing left. No explanation, no board with information, etc. The monument is very difficult to find. No signs refer to URL If you have not heard of it by chance you will not find it quickly, I suspect. And yet it is definitely worth a visit if you're somewhat close! PHOTO IN THIS POST

We hebben de foto wat aangepast voor je zodat hij in het bericht past, en hem bij je oorspronkelijke bericht gezet, zodat ze in elk geval samen blijven. Je kunt als je wilt het tweede bericht met de foto weghalen. Het is een bijzonder mooi monument, en zeker een bezoek waard. Hele fijne dag gewenst, Cornelia
