We are planning a trip to Ireland for first time. Will be renting a car but am wondering if by chance any of the larger towns,(especially Dublin), have car parking OUTSIDE the towns? When we travelled through England, we were able to use them at two different towns so we would not have to take the cars into town. We parked and a shuttle ran back and forth all day. Driving on opposite side is one thing but another yet to navigate busy, narrow streets.

Thanks for any info-

Hello Jackie,

It's so exciting that you'll be visiting us for the first time! :)

Renting a car gives you a lot of freedom, and it's definitely handy to leave the car outside the city so you can explore on foot and by public transport

Which cities are you planning on visiting? I have collected a few Park & Ride options for you below:
  • Translink - Park & Ride locations for Northern Ireland. (Belfast, Bangor, Lisburn, Derry-Londonderry and more.)
  • Dublin
  • Galway
  • Cork
What else do you have in mind for your itinerary? You can find some ideas and suggestions for road trips here

If there is anything else you need, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Warm regards,

Melin

Hi Jackie,
I am delighted you are planning your first visit to Ireland and I know you will have a brilliant time.
I have added a few links below Jackie that will help you plan your visit. A lot of towns will have parking on the outskirts and within walking distance to the town.
This link will let you see all the Translink park and  rides in Northern Ireland.  http://www.translink.co.uk/Services/Other-Translink-Services/Park--Ride/Park--Ride-Locations/
I dont know what your plans are but should you be travelling to Northern Ireland  https://discovernorthernireland.com/ is a great website.
Maybe you will include our wonderful City - Armagh in your plans https://visitarmagh.com/  and  https://visitarmagh.com/visitor-information/getting-here/
Have a wonderful time Jackie.
Kind regards,
Marion
