The island of Ireland has too many museums to count, and even though they are closed at the moment, you can still explore some of our most famous galleries and museums from the comfort of your home with these virtual tours. 

The Long Room - Trinity College



The main chamber of the Old Library is the Long Room; at nearly 65 metres in length, it is filled with 200,000 of the Library’s oldest books and is one of the most impressive libraries in the world. In this video, you get an impression of how big the Long Room is, and what it’s like to walk along the many books and busts.

EPIC - The Irish Emigration Museum

Ireland has a population of around 6.3 million, but it is estimated that 50 to 80 million people around the world have Irish roots, making the Irish diaspora one of the largest of any nation. EPIC is the Irish Emigration Museum, and definitely a must-see while you’re in Dublin. Click here for the virtual tour.

The National Gallery

The Chester Beatty

The Chester Beatty is a museum and library in Dublin. Formerly known as the Chester Beatty Library, it was established in Ireland in 1950, to house the collections of mining magnate Sir Alfred Chester Beatty. This virtual tour shows you everything from Egyptian Books of the Dead to contemporary Chinese woodblock prints, and it even has a VR mode! 

Medieval Museum Waterford

Waterford is Ireland’s oldest city, founded by ancient Vikings. The Medieval Museum is dedicated to rare and incredible artefacts found here, that date from the 13th century. THE GERARD BYRNE STUDIO - Home of Modern Irish Impressionism - ART GALLERY VIRTUAL TOUR

Ireland's Ambassador to Singapore, Patrick Bourne along with Dr Nigel Taylor, the group director of Singapore Botanic Gardens (2011-2019) invited Gerard Byrne to take up Artist-in-Residence in the Gardens from August till September 2019. The residency resulted in a new collection of lush tropical flora en plein air paintings from Southeast Asia.

'Botanical Fusion' exhibition which displayed Gerard Byrne's new Singaporean collection alongside his botanical works from Ireland and London's Kew Gardens was a culmination of his residency. Curated by The Gerard Byrne Studio, co-hosted by the Singapore Botanic Gardens and the Irish Embassy in Singapore, and supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs, the exhibition ran for then weeks at the People's Gallery, Singapore Botanic Gardens from 6th September to 10th November 2019. It was seen by over 50,000 visitors to the Gardens as part of the commemorative celebrations of the Singapore Botanic Gardens' 160 years in existence.The Gerard Byrne Studio brought the exhibition 'Botanical Fusion' to the artist's home country. The exhibition was launched on 27th February 2020 by Mr Ronald J. Bolger, Honorary Consul - General of Singapore in Ireland. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the gallery had to close and Byrne's botanical paintings could not be seen by the public.

Galway City Museum invites you to virtually visit the museum and enjoy browsing through collections, exhibitions and online learning resources. There are three floors of galleries currently housing seven long-term exhibitions and two temporary exhibitions. These exhibitions explore themes of archaeology, history and sea science with a particular focus on Galway.
