We spent a week in Waterville Ireland in September. I can highly recommend Waterville as a most excellent home base on the Ring of Kerry. Not only will you find gorgeous sunsets and amazing hikes and scenery, you'll also discover a rich engineering history. Did you know that the first 19th century Transatlantic telegraph cables were landed in Waterville and nearby Valentia Island? Stay at an Airbnb in the Old Cable Station Offices for an added treat.

Hi Jennifer,

Thanks for another wonderful post on things to do and places to visit!

As you say, Waterville is an excellent base for exploring not only the Ring of Kerry but also the nearby Dingle Peninsula and Ring of Beara. With plenty of wonderful coastal views to keep you amused as you travel about the area, it is possible to spend a few days here trying the many water and golf activities too!
