Hi everyone! 👋

I know what you think. Is that a New Year resolution thread?
Well, yes and no.
While it's always good to take on new resolutions, I feel it's even better to think of all the new things you would love to try or do. 📝

As we are all Ireland fans, I thought we could focus on places you would love to visit on the island, things you would love to do while here, or "Irish" things you would love to give a go. 💚

Exciting right?

Let me start... In 2022 I would love to:

  1. 🏊‍♀️ Go wild swimming
  2. 🥔 Make homemade potato Bread
  3. 🥾 Hike the Errigal with the kiddos.

Now, what's yours?
(Also, all potato bread recipes welcome 🤣)

Hey Elodie,

Your bucket list sounds great - massive good luck for the potato bread! 😀

My bucket list for 2022 would have to be:
  1. Visit the Cliffs of Moher 🌊
  2. Kiss the Blarney Stone 💋 (not that I probably need the gift of the gab!)
  3. See Newgrange at Solstice ☀️

We will be waiting for some good homemade potato bread recipe!

In 2022 I would love to:

  2. 🌉 Cross the Carrick-a-Rede.
  3. ☘️ Visit the Dingle Peninsula.

Hi everyone,

Wow, these are some cool things you got listed there - and I feel like my own bucket list just grew a bit longer by just reading these... 😊 However, the two most important things I have on top of my list for 2022 are:

1. Take surf lessons in Strandhill 🏄
I took a beginners class in Strandhill years ago and absolutely loved it - so much that I wanted to go back and take some more lessons ever since...

2. Discover the foodie scene in Belfast 🍲
It's been a while that I had the chance to visit Belfast and I hear it has become a true foodie haven... Let me know if you have any recommendations of places I should try!

Hi Guys,

Some lovely bucket list ideas so far, here are mine for 2022!

Having toured plenty of County Donegal this past year or so, I am travelling a bit further south this time,

1.      Visit Westport, see the clock tower and Matt Molloy’s! 🎵
2.      Take a drive out to Achill Island and take my own photo of Keem Bay. 🌊
3.      Spend the day in Kylemore Abbey and the wonderful drive through Connemara. 🏰

This thread is giving me so many ideas for the new year! 😀 (they seem to be all water-related. 🌊)

  1. 🏊‍♀️ Like Elodie, wild swimming is my absolute number 1 for the upcoming year. So far I've mainly been swimming at the beach next to Crawfordsburn Country Park near Belfast, but these 7 beautiful locations are definitely on my list. Take a look here for more tips on how to safely tread the waters in and around the island of Ireland.
  2. 🏄 And like Sarah, I'd love to try my hand at surfing as well! I'm thinking of taking some lessons and then making my way over to Sligo for more waves and possibly a surf camp.
  3. 🤿 Lastly, I'd like to go scuba diving off the Irish coast. There are so many diving locations to choose from, but I'd definitely make my way up north first.

It's great to see so many places that I already visited, guys! I truly recommend spending a whole day at the Cliffs of Moher and the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge.

This is my bucket list for 2022:

1. walk the Cuilcagh Legnabrocky Trail (aka Stairway to Heaven!) 🎒
2. hike the Slieve League (I've already been twice, but it's not enough!) ⛰️
3. tour by bicycle the Aran Islands 🛥️

Hi everyone,

I'm feeling so inspired reading all these great places from your bucket lists!
For the new year, I'm hoping to visit these places:

1. Galway! 🎻 I've never been, and I want to see the city. Also, while I'm in County Galway, I hope to see Kylemore Abbey and the Connemara National Park!

2. Dublin! ☘️ I've been countless times at Dublin Airport, but I never made it into the city. I'd love to see the Temple Bar and have a picnic in Phoenix Park.

3. The Gobbins Cliff Path! 🌊 It was 2018 on my bucket list, but somehow we stopped by the Glenariff Forest and wouldn't want to leave, as it was so beautiful! So, here we go again, Gobbins Cliff Path, and this time: For real! 😄

Hi all!

Love the above suggestions - I will need to tack extra days onto my dream holiday to the Emerald Isle to fit it all in. ☘️

In 2002 I did my first ever cycling trip from Dublin via Roscommon to Galway, the Aran Islands, then to the Ring of Kerry, Dingle, the beautiful Beara peninsula and finished up in Cork where I rang the Shandon bells to celebrate the end of my trip.

20 years later I would like to do it again, but this time head north from Galway - Connemara, Donegal and explore Northern Ireland. I'll bring my tent because I love camping, no matter the weather - as long as you can get warm in a cozy pub. I'll bring my bathing suit too because I also love (wild) swimming!

I also want to spend time enjoying the culture and cuisines of the different cities I will visit. I used to live in Dublin and love the Irish Museum of Modern Art, but also historical artefacts such as the Book of Kells, so I would to see these again. In Northern Ireland I'm especially looking forward to seeing the mural art of Derry/Londonderry and Belfast.

Happy New Year everyone, let's hope all our travel plans come true!
