One of the many great places to take a hike while up in Northern Ireland is a place called Gortin Glen Forest Park, County Tyrone. With plenty of trail head options and access to the Ulster Way it is a super place to stop and add to your adventure opportunites.

As past of the activities, there are also mountain bike trails and a large car park with café and toilet facilities to start your day and an added bonus it is free to use!

There is also Gortin Lakes if you have a canoe or SUP that you fancy spending a little time on, with picnic benches and a wee walk around the lake to add to the enjoyment while there.

I loved the Giant's Causeway but there is so much more to Northern Ireland!
  • Dunluce Castle. With the sound of the sea, which is right next to it, the past doesn't feel all that far away. But of course, don't forget the other beautiful castles like Carrickfergus, Belfast or Castlewellan Castle! Dunluce is just my personal favorite.
  • The Glens of Antrim! Each of the nine glens has stunning sights with historic buildings, beautiful coasts and lovely cities to explore.
  • If you haven't heard of the Walled City yet, you're missing out! The city walls (which were constructed during the 17th century!) are very imposing even today.
  • The Titanic Museum. Do I have to say more? Everyone knows what it is about and yet the museum manages to educate you even more on this topic, telling you all these cool facts while also displaying the tragedy of the event.
  • St. George's Market in Belfast is an amazing experience too. Before the 20th century, it was an open meat market, nowadays you can find 300+ traders and vendors of all kinds here, all with a very friendly, approaching manner - completely different to the big warehouses and stores we see so often now.
  • The Ulster American Folk Park - especially if you're from America and are trying to find your Irish roots!
