Hello guys, so I am currently an American living in America and for the past couple years I have been really fascinated with Ireland and I’ve thinking about wanting to move there, but before I do, I had some questions just so that way I can try to go about things in the most respectful way possible. So if you could give me any form of answer for any of the questions cause I have a few that would be appreciated and very kind of you.
So first off would you find a disrespectful if an American move to Ireland with very little heritage and was thinking about getting some form of citizenship? Whether that be dual citizenship or some other form. Also, would Irish Americans living in Ireland in a society stand point ?
Also, what are some pros and cons about living in Ireland? What are some things you guys find disrespectful? What things should I read or learn about before? What is it like living in Ireland? And how do you guys feel about us Americans wanting to learn your culture?
Again, I’m just trying to find out answers and try to go about things in the most respectful manner. I just want to thank you for your time if you did read If you do answer, I would like thank you for your answers as well really appreciate them. Also my apologies for it being such a long piece of text and if my spelling is bad.

Hi Ella, exciting prospects!

Firstly, I would say that the best thing to do would be to come on an extended holiday so that you can get a feel for the place before you decide to come and stay. That way, you can visit various locations as all parts of the island have a different vibe, and I'm sure you will find one to fit. There is an accommodation page on our website to find places to stay. Just scroll down to the Where do you want to stay section and use the filters to refine your search.

Citizens Information has a page on moving country that would be a good place to find out the information on moving here. It includes links to coming to work and also retiring to Ireland. Both have their rules and regulations on coming to live here. We have an ultimate guide with handy information on weather, public transport, and many other topics to help with more personal questions.

The island of Ireland is a welcoming place for all people, including Americans, with or without any Irish heritage. They will say hello as you pass in the street, offer helpful suggestions and directions, and even give you a lift to where you want to go! So, come on over, check us out, read the rules of moving here to see if you qualify, and enjoy a visit! ☘️
