Hi, Pamela

It's great to hear from a seasoned traveller to Dublin, looking to try a week in wonderful Galway. The train would make the most obvious choice as you suggested. This would involve getting from the airport to Dublin City in order to catch the service operated by Irish Rail. There is a taxi rank outside the arrivals area, and there will be plenty of available taxis which cater for wheelchair users.

It is also possible to catch the Bus Eireann service from the airport to Galway. Here is a contact page for Bus Eireann regarding Accessibility, which has a contact telephone number to check that this service has the appropriate bus.

We have a really helpful article on our website that gives information to visitors with special needs and reduced mobility and highlights facilities on public transport, taxis, visitor attractions and car rental options: Accessibility.

We also have some information on our Community on this which you can find here: Disabled and Visiting Ireland.

I am sure that our fellow members will have some of their own advice to help you make your time with us as memorable as possible.

Feel free to get back to us with your thoughts and if you need any other help on things to see and do,

Regards

Martin
