Hi Mike, Last year there was a bill to get the ban lifted for some premises from 2018. This was only for the Republic of Ireland, and I am not sure if the law was passed yet. Here is an article about it: https://www.irishtimes.com/news/politics/good-friday-alcohol-ban-to-be-lifted-from-all-premises-by-2018-1.3117347Regarding Northern Ireland, the Ban is still on as far as I am aware. Hope this helps Mike.

In Northern Ireland alcohol can only be served between 5pm and 11pm on Good Friday. Bars have to stop serving at midnight on Thursday and Easter Saturday. And on Easter Sunday bars and restaurants have to stop serving alcohol at 10pm. We at The Shepherds Rest Pub/ Campsite & Wedding Venue will be open with entertainment on over the Easter weekend within the legal hours, so book your stay. www.shepherdsrestpub.com

Hi MikeHot off the presses! It was just announced on the news that the ban has been lifted (please note that this only applies to the Republic of Ireland). This will be a great way to kick off your Easter celebrations ;) If you happen to be in the west of Ireland, you should consider celebrating the first official non-dry Good Friday on the Aran Islands! Daily sailings from Doolin. Just sayin
All the best Joan

Rugby is an excellent occasion for an extended Weekend! The atmosphere will be fantastic in Dublin. Have you found your accommodation yet? If not, I will advise you to have a look soon. We have a great selection on our website. The map option will be handy to find the best spot not to miss the action while you are over.
