Just so they can follow this message: We also have many camping partners from Northern Ireland active on this forum. They may have some advice when it comes to if you need to reserve for the whole of your tour in May or if you can decide on the day where you'd like to stay the night with the caravan.

Een hele fijne dag,
Cornelia

Great to see that you will be visiting in Ireland in May.  At that time of the year there shouldn't be any problem getting space in a caravan/camping site.
However, the weekend of 4th to 7th May is a Bank Holiday both in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Sites will be very busy this weekend. Therefore I would suggest that you pre-book your overnight stops for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.
We produce the Ireland 2018 Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Guide which features over 90 sites throughout the Island of Ireland.  You can order a copy through our website www.campingireland.ie

Looking forward to welcoming you to Ireland

Dear Wim,

Great to hear you are coming to Northern Ireland in May!  A touring caravan is ideal for travelling round the province at your leisure, stopping off when you find somewhere you wish to explore further.

You ask about whether it is best to book camping/caravan sites in advance.  Normally at that time of the year there should be no problem, however there are a couple of exceptions to this.

The May bank holiday weekend falls from Friday 4th May to Monday 7th May.  You may find that caravan parks are busy during that period and it might be beneficial to pre-book for that weekend.

I hope you decide to travel around the beautiful Causeway Coast and Glens region.  The northern coastline is known for its sandy beaches, cliffs, attractions and great walks.  For more information please visit: www.visitcausewaycoastandglens.com
I just wanted to let you know that the dates of your visit coincide with one of the biggest outdoor events in Ireland, namely the Vauxhall International North West 200 motorcycle races: www.northwest200.org   This event attracts some of the best motorcycling racers in the world and is watched by thousands of fans who come into the area to watch the spectacle.  The race circuit runs from Portrush to Portstewart to Coleraine and the event takes place on Tuesday 15th May when there are practices, Thursday 17th May when there are practices and racing and Saturday 19th May which is the main day of racing. During this time there are loads of free events for fans and visitors to enjoy.  So if you plan to visit the Causeway Coast between 13th and 19th May you would be best to book your caravan site in advance.

I hope you have a wonderful trip,
Anne
