My name is Sharon and I am coming back to Ireland Aug 29 2018. I was here last Sep and started in Dublin, went to Adare, Galway, Belfast then back to Dublin. This time I will be in Dublin longer then I am off to Kilkenny but have 3 days left to fill in my itinerary. I am getting around Ireland by bus so can you suggest somewhere that would be easy to get to from Kilkenny and close enough to Dublin to spend one more night before flying home to Canada on Sep 13. Thank you in advance! Cheers Sharon

Hi Sharon, welcome to the community!

Sounds like you have a great trip coming up. Have you got some fun activities planned in Dublin?

Kildare could be a lovely possibility for you to spend a night in after Kilkenny. There are the beautiful Japanese gardens and a brilliant heritage centre to name just a few of the great things that you could do! If you would like as little traveling as possible, Kilkenny to Kildare will only take around 1 hour 40 minutes on the bus and then just another 1 hour back to Dublin from Kildare. You can check timetables out on the Bus Éireann website

Alternatively, if you didn't mind a bit of extra travel you could travel to Wicklow to see the stunning Wicklow Mountains. The route is not as direct and you would be a little longer traveling, but it would really be worth it! You should check out this post from some of our other community members on ways to get from Dublin to the Wicklow Mountains.

I'm sure no matter where you choose, you will have a great trip!

Hi Sharon, do you have three days after Kilkenny before you fly out of Dublin? If so I would recommend travelling to Cork as there would be loads to do around Cork City and the village of Kinsale outside the city would be lovely to discover in late August. Depending on what time you are flying out you can get a bus from Cork city to Dublin airport - it's a 3.5 hour journey and there is a direct airport express service.
I hope this helps!

Hi Sharon,

If you're looking for something fun to do in Dublin we would love you to join one of our food tours.

It's the best way to learn about Irish food and see the city differently.

Best of luck with your trip!

Regards,

Ketty @ Delicious Dublin Tours
