Good day all,

I am a solo traveler heading to Ireland, UK and Europe for winter.
My big plan was to take a ferry, but I have finally learned that no ferry carries foot traffic in December.

Any thoughts on alternate ideas? I know I can fly, but I am thinking of going back through England to France. Any thoughts or wisdom? I am open to any ideas.

Thank you,
Kelly

Hello Kelly,

It sounds like a wonderful plan to visit Europe and us here in Ireland during the winter time!

Which ferries have you contacted so far, as I would be surprised if they didn't allow foot passengers at any time of the year?

As an alternative, there are indeed several locations to fly from to make your way into Ireland as a start to your Irish adventure.

Where will you be touring once you make it to the island of Ireland?   We have several excellent trip ideas pages to help you plan your itinerary.

I'm sure our Industry partners and fellow members will have some advice also.

Speak soon,

Martin

Hi Kelly,

That sounds like a great plan for this coming winter!

I have a few options on the ferry front for December this year.  Stena Line sail a couple of routes from Belfast to Liverpool and Belfast to Cairnryan in Scotland.  They take foot passengers in the month of December.  P&O Ferries sail from Cairnryan in Scotland to Larne in Northern Ireland in December and again they have an option for booking foot passengers.

There is a company in Coleraine, Northern Ireland called Nutt Travel and they specialise in ferry bookings from Ireland to the UK and Ireland to Europe. We would refer tourists to them on a fairly regular basis.  If you would like further help with the logistics of your trip they might be able to help.  Their web address is: www.nutttravel.com

Kind Regards,
Anne
