License to drive a rental car in Ireland?

Hi!
During our upcoming trip we’ll have a rental car to get around Ireland. Do we need a special license? We all have US drivers licenses.

A rental car is a super way to travel around the island of Ireland!

We have a previous post on renting a car in Ireland that answers your question on licenses and lots of other questions too. You will need either a valid, full national driving license or an international driving permit to drive in Ireland. In the Republic of Ireland, you must carry your driver’s license at all times.
