Hi Terrence,
I was in Dublin a couple of months ago and I booked a one-day trip with the
Wild Rover Tours. I was interested mainly in visiting Glendalough and then, scrolling the detailed itinerary, I found out that the tour I was looking into included the Irish sheepdog demonstration.
After meeting the tour guide, we jumped on the bus departing from O'Connell St. in Dublin. The tour guide was very friendly and professional: on the way to the farm, she provided us with a historical background and she spoke about the local farmers in the Wicklow Mountains where, for many years, their dogs have been bred and worked side by side by the shepherds.
When we arrived in Annamoe, I didn't expect to see 40 min of a spectacular trial that involved two marvellous Border Collies (not easy to capture!)
It was really entertaining because the master showed his whistling techniques and commands that sheepdogs followed obediently. This was an amazing experience that I would strongly recommend it!
Kind regards,
Francesco
