For travelling from Dublin to Kinsale, which is easier?  Bus or rail? Can you please share with me links to whichever one is easier.

Thanks!

Hi Laura,

Using public transport to move around the island of Ireland is very easy and one that a lot more people are choosing to do during their time with us!

There is a super journey planner from Transport for Ireland that allows you to enter your from and to locations to find out the services provided by both train and bus. From the choices, there is a selection panel giving you the options, click on the option for further details.

The rail service in the republic is by Irish Rail. Please take a look at their website for details on booking online and their current timetables. The train takes about 2 hours 30 minutes and terminates at Cork and you will need to take a bus onwards to Kinsale.

The main bus service is by Bus Éireann who also operate a service down to Kinsale, please take a look at their website for timetables and details of their services. This takes about 3 hours 45 minutes to Cork and also requires a change of bus at Cork to reach Kinsale. The time to Kinsale from Cork is just under an hour.

I hope this helps and that you enjoy your time with us whichever route you take!

What have you planned to see and do during your time in Kinsale?

Speak soon,

Martin

Another way to get there is with a private transfer. You travel with local drivers, who pick you up at the airport or at the hotel where you're staying, and will drop you off at the exact location you need to be in Kinsale. You can also book stops if you'd like to see some nice places on the way there. It's a bit more expensive than buses and trains, but it's way more convenient and comfortable.
