Coming to Ireland for our 20th Anniversary.  We want to stay in Galway as long as we can, which means trying to get to an 11:30 am departure for a flight back to Boston.     Is this crazy?  I see some Coach bus rides available that leave early in the morning.   Is there any transportation that goes directly to the airport?   (even private?).

Hello Thomas,

It's so lovely that you are thinking of celebrating your 20th anniversary here with us on the island! Galway is a great place to explore the Wild Atlantic Way from, and there are so many things to see and do in the area. What do you have in mind for your trip so far?

Travelling back from Galway on the day of your flight is not a crazy idea at all. :) If you are flying at 11:30 am from Dublin, you could take a bus from Galway directly to the airport early in the morning. Dublin Airport recommends to check with your airline to see how long before your flight to arrive at the airport, but advise that it should be no less than 90 minutes before departure.

The Citylink Galway to Dublin Express stops at the Airport, and this direct route will take you there within 3 hours. This service runs every hour, 24 hours a day, so you could leave as early as you'd like. Take a look at the Transport for Ireland page for more direct bus routes. Would this be an option?

Melin, thanks so much for reaching back. Just returned and had a great time.
The only disappointing experience I had was with the Budget Rental Car office in Galway. Pretty crappy experience from the staff there when we tried to return our car.
Other than that, it was a awesome time throughout. We did Dublin for 2 days, then Killkeny, Cork/ Kinsale, over to Killarney, up to Lahinch, then a couple of days in Galway.
Your advice on the coach worked out perfectly. We stayed at an AirBnB near the station. No stress leaving. It was fantastic.  thanks for all the advice... and quick response!

Hello Thomas,

I’m sorry to hear you had problems with the rental car service. It really is not an experience that you want to take as a souvenir.

Still, it does sounds like you still had a beautiful anniversary adventure and you were able to discover many of the jewels of the island during the visit! :)

I'd love to hear more about your journey. By chance, do you have any photos that you'd like to share?

Have a lovely weekend! :D

Cheers,
Romina
