Records show that Patrick Flanagan of Williamstown Townland married Margaret Bride of Williamstown Townland on January 30, 1870 in Kilsaran Roman Catholic Church. The witnesses were James Higgins and Anne Bride. The family grew to have seven children: Mary, Bridget, Nicholas, Catherine, Anne, Ellen, Elizabeth, and Patrick .  Catherine remained in Ireland and married Peter Quinn - they settled in Dundalk. Margaret Flanagan died in 1899 and is buried in the cemetery at Kilsaran Catholic Church. Margaret's father, Bernard Bride, is also buried in this cemetery. In the 1901 census, Patrick Flanagan (father) lived with his daughter Ellen in a house located in Greenmount Townland. Patrick was 50 years old and his daughter was 18 at the time. All members of the family except for Catherine, emigrated to the United States in the late 1800's thru 1908.

I am the grandson of Ellen Flanagan and I am in search of anyone related to this family and/or any information regarding this family.

Hello Michael,

It's wonderful that you were able to trace your Irish roots back all the way to the 1800's, and we hope that your post here will help you find family members! :)

Have you by any chance been in touch with Ireland Reaching Out yet? The great volunteers there attempt to connect Irish descendants to their roots, through reverse genealogical research. Hopefully they might be able to help you too!

Once you do find out more, the Irish phone book is a great source of information as well.

Wishing you the best of luck. :)
