We are group of people with different nationalities (both EU and non EU) traveling to Dublin Airport but basically staying in Northern Ireland for a 3 day workshop with work. We fly back again from Dublin Airport. What type of Visa do we need (for the non EU passport holders)?

Hi Evangelos, it's so exciting you're planning on visiting both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland! :) I see that Visit Belfast has already provided you with the right information, but we're always here if you have any additional questions.

Hello, Thank you so much for your helpful answers. I do have 1 more question though as it is not very clear to me. On the website it is mentioned:

If your country is not on this list, contact your local Irish embassy/consulate before you travel to find out your visa requirements. If you’re planning on travelling to Northern Ireland, contact your local British embassy/high commission or consular office.

Does this mean that if we fly in and from Dublin, but stying in Northern Ireland, w only need UK VISA and not an Irish Visa? Will be able to make it  out of  the airport and passport control without issues holding a valid UK visa?

Thank you.

Hello,

Visa applications can be a bit confusing indeed!

The Irish Nationalisation and Immigration Service, INIS, explain in a little more detail regarding arriving in the Republic of Ireland and then traveling up to Northern Ireland. As it depends on the passport origin, it is difficult to give the one-size covers all reply.

Most Non-EU travelers will require separate visas for the Republic of Ireland and the UK, some have a joint UK-Irish visa option, so no easy answer. Please check with the INIS website for each non-EU national and then if a UK visa is then required or a joint one exists. As the Republic is the first port of call, this is the first one to check as no entry will be granted if a visa is required here.

I hope this helps a little.
