Hi,

I am a foreign student based in Galway. It's soon gonna be Christmas and I want to travel with my friends to Belfast. What would you suggest for a road trip?

Looking forward to reading some nice recommendations.

Hi,

That sounds like a great idea, Christmas is a wonderful time to see plenty of different places on the island of Ireland!

With Brexit still on the horizon, there are some things to keep in mind if you have a visa to be with us. Make sure it allows for travel into Northern Ireland and also carry your passport with you too.

Are you looking to make the trip over a few days or simply looking for places to visit as you drive to Belfast?

Hi Tarundeep,

Belfast is an exciting place to visit coming up to Christmas.  You could check out the Christmas Market round the City Hall that starts on 16th November.  There is a hop-on, hop-off bus tour that is an excellent launch pad to see the attractions.

If you are planning a few days in Northern Ireland you might want to head up to the Causeway Coast in the very north.  There is much to see and do including seeing the Giant's Causeway a UNESCO World Heritage Site and visiting Game of Thrones Film Locations with intriguing names such as The Dark Hedges, Larrybane, Ballintoy Harbour and the Mussenden Temple.  Wintertime can be a great time to visit the area as you get to see and experience the rugged beauty of the coastline without the crowds.

There is a great off-road walk from Portballintrae to Carrick-A-Rede- Rope Bridge; it is part of the Causeway Coast Way and is a great way to get as close as possible to the incredible scenery.  On a clear day you can see Rathlin Island and Scotland beyond.

If you would like any more information about the area please take a look at our web site: www.visitcausewaycoastandglens.com

Best wishes for a great trip!
Anne
