We are planning a trip to Ireland during Easter Week 2020. If we arrive in Dublin on Easter Sunday will we find the city closed for the holiday? Will any restaurants be open for lunch and dinner?

Hi Leslie,

It's very exciting you're planning on visiting us for a week during Easter next year! :) As Easter Sunday is a public holiday, you'll find that banks, post offices and many businesses and shops will be closed. Public transport will run to the normal Sunday timetable, but you'll find that bars, pubs and restaurants will generally be open. I'd love to help you find a restaurant or cafe that will be open when you're here. In what part of the city are you staying, and is there any type of food you would prefer?

You'll find that on Easter Monday the shops, restaurants and cafes might open a little bit later during the day, but most will be open. For more information about public holidays on the island, take a look here. Is there anything else you'd like to see or do while you're in the city?

For events on the island during this week, make sure to keep an eye on this page.
