Good evening,
It's out first time to Ireland apart from Dublin, we've got 2 weeks mid January and a motorhome....we'd love to visit Ireland's sights. What's best to do, were can we stay (all year round campsites) and what must we not miss. Help.........

Hi Mark,

It is so exciting that you'll be travelling around the island by motorhome in January next year! You'll be able to see and do loads in those two weeks, and I'd love to see what I can do to point you in the right direction.

There are campsites with lovely views that are open all year round in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, and you can reach out to them directly for more information. Is there anywhere in particular that you would like to stay, or anything you wouldn't want to miss while you're here on your first trip?

You can take a look at some suggested itineraries on the Trip Ideas page, and each route will show you where it's recommended to stop along the way, and how long the trip will take. You can mix and match these itineraries to create your own perfect itinerary. :)

One of our members went on a three-week road trip around the island, and you can read more about his experiences here

Dear Mark and Sue,

What an exciting prospect, taking to the open road round Ireland for two whole weeks!

There is lots to see and do up round the north coast of Northern Ireland in an area known as the Causeway Coast and Glens.  The scenery is beautiful and there are plenty of attractions to visit such as the Giant's Causeway, Dunluce Castle, the Old Bushmills Distillery and Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge.  You have a great choice of long sandy beaches to walk and plenty of atmospheric pubs and cozy restaurants to visit during the evenings.

The seaside town of Portrush offers a couple of options for parking your motor home.  The Causeway Coast Touring Site which is located on the Ballyreagh Road, Portrush is open in January and welcomes visitors.  The Sandhill Drive Motor Home Park in the centre of the town also is open in January.  It is runs on a first come, first served basis.

Portrush is also a good base to tour the area from, as the Causeway Rambler Bus stops there.  It is a hop-on, hop-off service that stops at most of the major attractions along the coastline, giving you the option to leave your motor home parked on site as you explore.  The bus service runs from Coleraine to Ballycastle on the north eastern coast.

If you would like more information about the area please take a look at our web site:  www.visitcausewaycoastandglens.com

Every good wish for an epic trip!
Anne
