Hello!
I am researching my paternal grandmother's family.  My great grandfather was Alexander Patterson Jr., b. 1869 in Belfast married to Elizabeth Quigley also of Belfast. They eventually moved to Hartlepool, Northumberland, England, except for a quick job working on the Titanic back in Belfast.
His father was Alexander Patterson, Sr. b. 1839 Aughnamoe, Dromore, Tyrone, and married to Sarah Jervis, County Fermanagh, Tyrone. They left County Tyrone and moved to Belfast.
His father was William Patterson of Aughnamoe, b. around 1811ish(??).  I have the Griffith's Valuation and revisions, which show that he probably died around 1872. I also have title. At that time his property transferred over to Samuel.  There are three Patterson names listed next to each other on Griffiths.  They are James, Samuel and William.  I would really like to know the relationship between the three of them, as well as the spouse of William and if there are any other children.
William and James are in the 1834 Title Applotment records for Aughnamoe, Dromore Parish, County Tyrone, so I am guessing they are brothers?
Any help is so appreciated! Blessings!

Hello Jill,

It sounds like you have gotten off to a great start with your searches so far!

Family farms and property would normally be handed down to the oldest son through the generations so it stands a good chance that Samuel was the eldest of the three if they are indeed all brothers.

Before 1864 records were kept in the form of church and parish records all the surviving records have been sorted into county-based genealogical centres. Irish World Family History Services would be somewhere that you may consider helpful as they have information on County Tyrone and Fermanagh.

I'm sure our Industry partners and fellow members will have some advice also. Please feel free to post some images of the information records you have, they are fascinating to look at.

Speak soon,
Martin
