While the kids were still off from school, we decided to visit
Oakfield Park, County Donegal!
We got there just as the park had opened at 11 am and there was already plenty of visitors in the car park, a good sign. We opted for the family ticket with the little train trip included and started to meander our way around the wonderful gardens and other facilities.
The grasslands and paths are very well kept ideal for prams and wheelchairs. We have neither but our dog enjoyed the chance to sniff and wander around to his heart's content. 🐕
The train ride is lovely! We all managed to get into a carriage, including the dog, and happily set off around the gardens taking in all the places we had walked. A tip for all those who would like to see the steam train engine, it runs on the last Sunday of the month during the season. 🚂
We opted to bring a packed lunch with us but there is a restaurant on-site if you wish. 🙂
With excellent clean facilities including toilets, shop and ice cream truck, a great way to spend a few hours.
