Good morning, I am travelling to Ireland from Scotland with my family. Our 12 year old daughter has had her covid vaccine but in Scotland they are only giving one dose. Will this count as a valid covid passport for her or do we have to get a private PCR test done?

Hi Greig,

There are many changes happening to public health guidelines here on the island of Ireland, but the rules on international travel are set to stay as they are.

In the Republic of Ireland, 12-15 year olds are offered the two vaccines to be classed as fully vaccinated so your daughter will indeed need a negative PCR test before arrival. Please have a look at our traveller's health page for more details. You can add your daughter to your passenger locator form with your statuses regarding vaccination and PCR test. A separate form needs to be filled in by each person over 18.

I hope this helps, where have you planed to visit during your time with us?

Martin

Hi Melin, that's really appreciated thank you. It's our first time over after covid ruined plans a year or so ago, so we are really looking forward to it

Good morning Martin,

My family had a lovely week away in Ireland staying in Cleendra, near Dungloe.  So many beautiful beaches in the area to visit. We were lucky enough to have friends with us that are originally from the Dungloe area so we were shown some of the best sights in the area. Our favourite beaches were the ones at Cruit Island and Port Noo. Thanks again for the advice and we will definitely be back.

Hi Greig,

It is fantastic to hear you had such a great time in Ireland. The beaches in Donegal are indeed wonderful and a great place to relax and enjoy nature. Did you also get to visit other natural sites in the area with your friends?

Have a great day,

David.
