Hi,
We are trying to plan a trip to Ireland for Spring 2022, but don't want to come until all the OPW sites are fully open - such as Bru na Bonne (to go into the passage tomb not just see the outside), clonmacnoise (visitor center and have a guided tour) Sligo Abbey (open at all) etc.  Is there any idea as to when the OPW may fully open sites?  I know that now it is site by site and the entrance fees have been waived until the end of 2021. So I'm hoping that there may be some change come 2022.
Thank you,
Beth

Hi Beth,

It's lovely to hear that you are planning to come over early next year! ☘️

It would be best to keep an eye on the Heritage Ireland website for details of opening times and dates and what they plan for next year. It will very much depend on the public health guidelines in place at the time. Hopefully, things will be able to open as they did before the pandemic but it is too early to be able to say yet.

Have you been over to visit us before or would this be a first visit?

Hey Martin,
Yes, this is our first visit and we are very excited.  We were suppose to come 2 years ago but then the pandemic hit so we are hopefully that it will happen this time.  However, as we are really interested in history and the ancient sites we'll postpone until the sites are fully open.  I've been going to Heritage Ireland to get a feel and I'll just keep up with that.
Thank you so much for your reply,
Beth - USA

Hi Beth,

Hopefully, things will be back to open all of next year but you are right in checking on Heritage Ireland as your itinerary is quite specific! 🙂

As this will be your first time with us, be it a little delayed, we are sure that when you visit you will have some lovely memories and stories to tell. 💚

Best wishes and safe future travels,

Martin
