Hello,
I plan a cyclotour in Ireland (Wild Atlantic Way from Cork to Sligo and down to the South West coast and return to Cork)  from mid may to end of next June. I have two questions :
1) I plan to camp. I have found for each of my planned stops a camping site except in middle of my step from Achill island and Bally Castle. Is there a way for me to pitch my tent somewhere ?
2) As a cyclotourist, I cannot always be certain to respect my planned steps and consequently it can occur that I cannot reach the plan camping site. I know that wild camping is forbidden in Ireland. Do you know if, in such a case, it is possible with some chance to be welcomed to ask to someone if I can pitch my tent on his field ? I don't know if that is possible and commonly accepted in Ireland.
A great thank to every body who can help me with these two questions.
Best regards,
Louis.

Hi Louis,

It's good to hear that you are planning a cycling trip to Ireland. You have a good plan.

Regarding your first query, do you mean Ballycastle in County Antrim? For information on camping sites in Ireland, I would recommend that you check out this page.

Regarding your second query, we are known as a welcoming bunch but you will find also a lot of B&Bs along the way that can be a nice alternative if you can't make it to the next campsite.

Regards,
Eoin

Hi Eoin,
A great and warm thanks for your answer.
About my first question : I am speking of Ballycastle in the Mayo County  (NO of  Ballina)
About my second question : it is only in the case I neither find a campingsite nor a non fully occupied Bed and Breakfirst.
A great thanks fot he link you gave me. I will, for sure, find a lot of information thanks to it.
Have a very nice evening.
Best reagrds,
Louis.

Hello Louis,

It sounds like you have quite an adventure ahead of you! You are certainly right that it's wise to plan from A to Z.

I also see that Eoin has offered some amazing advice already, and I'd like to add to this by offering a link to our Accommodations Finder. It's a wonderful tool that can help you find your home away from home here in Ireland. I've set it up to search for campsites in County Mayo, so you can find somewhere nearby. You can also filter for B&B's and other accommodation types, as well as change the location results.

Reaching out before you go will help ensure that you know all of your accommodations options, as well.

I do hope this helps!

Warmly,
Rochelle
