Hi wondering if anyone can clarify…we are travelling to Ireland with a friend who is a refugee in UK. He has indefinite leave to remain, has a uk biometric card and drivers license - can he use these forms of ID to enter the republic via ferry? He has applied for his travel document but the processing is really slow and he may not have it in time for the trip.
Thanks for your thoughts

Hi Helen,

It's good to hear that you are planning a trip to Ireland. In this instance, I would say that the best course of action is to contact the Irish Embassy in Great Britain for specific information.

You can also read about the common travel area between Ireland and the UK here for general information.

Regards,
Eoin
