Passport Validity

Hello, I will be traveling to Ireland on September 12 and my passport is less than six months validity, will I be able to enter without any problem? I have read that only three months of validity is necessary, but not from an official source.

How nice that you are coming over to see us soon! The rule of thumb is that your passport must be valid up to the return date of your trip to the island of Ireland. You can also check with your airline for further clarification.
