Hi y'all!
I foresee to go to Ireland next june in 2023.
I searched a little but I'm not sure about that. Is there any way to go to Wicklow Mountains (specifically Luggala Estate) by bus/train ?
Regardless of the starting point in Ireland... I'm a big fan of Vikings TV show and I want to see "Kattegat" :)
Thanks for your help!

Bonjour Olivier,

It's great that you are planning a visit next June! 🤩  Especially as a big Vikings fan!

First of all, you can definitely reach the Wicklow Mountains using public transport from Dublin. St. Kevin's bus is great for that, as it brings you straight to Glendalough (the heart of the Wicklow Mountains National Park)

Speaking of Lough Tay/Luggala Estate (please note that the grounds of the estate are private property), it becomes a bit trickier without a car. You would have to get off before Glendalough (at Ballianastoe Golf Club) and arrange a transfer with a local cab in advance (Glendalough Cab). You could also hitchhike (it's just a 5 minutes drive from there) or even walk if you feel like it.

Another option would be to go on a half-day tour that stops in Lough Tay, amongst other locations. You can find such tours departing from Dublin with Paddywagon for instance.

Have you got anything else planned during your time with us? If you like the vikings (not just the TV show but the actual ones), you can check out these suggestions.

Let us know what you think!

A bientôt,
Antoine

Merci Antoine!

A bientôt ☘️

A bientôt,
Antoine
