Need help to rent a car

Good morning,
I contact you because I would like to rent a car in Ireland as well as in Scotland for a period of one week for each destination during the holidays of April 2023 but I encounter an issue especially in terms of my age.
Indeed, the age required in general in these countries is 21 years and a minimum of one year of permit.
But until then, unfortunately, I was born at the end of the year and will not yet be 21 but 20. But I’ve had my driver’s license for two years now and by the time I get here it’ll be two and a half years, and my international license...I wanted to know if given my good rental record besides my age some renting companies can be to be flexible over the few months that will separate me from 21 years old or if the rental is impossible for me...
I really need some help to figure it out cause I will be devastated if I had to cancelled my whole trip, it's been years since I dreamt about discovering Ireland and Scotland..

It's great that you are planning a road trip over to see us.

Unfortunately, as you mentioned, it is difficult to rent a car for young drivers in Ireland. Most car rental companies will not rent to drivers below 25 and drivers between 21 and 24 might have to pay a higher insurance premium.

Since they each have a different policy, I would suggest getting in touch with car rental companies and mentioning that you've had your driving license for more than 2 years to see what they can offer. You can find a complete list on the Car Rental Council website and further tips on this page.

Let us know if there's anything else we can do, or if you need tips for your itinerary once this is sorted out. 😊 If all fails, discovering Ireland using public transport could maybe be an option for you.
