Hello John, Thanks for joining us here with your question on what to do in your 8 days with us! Dublin is a super place to visit both in the city and the area around its coastal towns and villages. Between the city and the Ring of Kerry are plenty of other places to visit. As Ireland's Ancient East meets the Wild Atlantic Way having somewhere to fill your itinerary is not that tricky. :) If you intend to hire a car and stay in the most southern counties, then Wicklow, Waterford, Kilkenny, and Cork all offer places to see and things to do. Do you plan to use Dublin and Kerry as bases for daily trips out?

Hi Martin! I was thinking of staying in Dublin 3 nights and then renting a car. Back in Dublin the last night to be ready to fly home the next day. Staying in Kerry makes sense!

Hi John, Your plan to spend time in Dublin initially before heading down to the southwest of the island is a great one. Martin has shared some excellent pages to help you plan your itinerary. In terms of renting a car, you might also find this page to be useful, as well as this page on Driving in Ireland. Regards, Eoin

Do you have suggestions for a nice hotel for my daughter and I in Kerry that we could use as a home base?

Hi John, There are plenty of fine hotels in County Kerry, you and your daughter will have a super time using one of them as your base! Please have a look at our accommodation search page for some information. If you scroll down to the where do you want to stay section you can use the filters to refine your search. I have already selected County Kerry and Hotels to get you started, please feel free to change these to suit. From here you will be able to explore the Ring of Kerry, Killarney National Park, and the Dingle Peninsula easily. When will you and your daughter be over with us?

Hello again! So I’ll be driving from Killarney to meet my sister at the Jameson distillery in Middleton, then staying in Waterford. Our Jameson thing is at 11AM. Where should we go between that and Waterford? Rock of Cashel? And do you have suggestions for what to do in Waterford (in addition to the Crystal, of course!)?

Hi John, I'm sure you'll enjoy the Jameson Distillery in Midleton. Within County Waterford, I would recommend that you pay a visit to Lismore. It's only about 30 km from Midleton and will get you on to the main road to Waterford City there. From Lismore, you could get to the Rock of Cashel in less than an hour by car, so it's a very doable detour. Dungarvan is another wonderful town in County Waterford, about halfway between Lismore and Waterford City. In Dungarvan, you could also walk/cycle some of the Waterford Greenway. In Waterford City itself, there are many wonderful things to see and do, including the House of Waterford Crystal. Regards, Eoin
