Hi Joseph,
I am delighted to read of your trip to Ireland this summer.
Antoine has drawn your attention to the Causeway Coastal Route. I suggest at least two days to explore this stunningly beautiful drive, spending the first evening around Ballycastle or Bushmills, and your second evening further west, before moving on to Derry-Londonderry.
From Belfast, the A2 coastal road takes you out along the shore of Belfast Lough and basically follows the coast. Here is a link to specific sights along the way. CCGDownload - Causeway Coastal Route Map - 2023 (mobile).pdf(visitcausewaycoastandglens.com)
With so much to see in a small area, it is worth deciding beforehand what your must-see sights will be. Some of these must be booked in advance (e.g. The Gobbins path, Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, tour of Bushmills Distillery, Giant’s Causeway (booking advisable)). FYI the puffins on Rathlin Island go back to sea mid-July. It’s so important to get the balance right between trying to see sights, but also having time to pause and just enjoy being in a beautiful place.
