There are indeed bus lines between both cities. The best option for you would be the company Citilink which has direct lines from Galway to Cork. The journey takes less than 3 hours.

GoBus is now under CityLink: https://gobus.ie/citylink-acquisition-of-gobus/
Every hrs departs in each direction for Galway, a 2hrs service on the Cork route.

Aircoach is the other private operator between Dublin and the 2 cities. (have a few more calls)
