I'll be traveling between Dingle and Adare, March 16-17 and am looking for ideas for historic sites to see and a place to stay for my family of four (two adults, two teenagers). We'd love to hike, walk, or bike too. Thanks for any feedback!

Hello Mary,

It's not long now until you are in Dingle and looking to travel on to Adare!

There are some wonderful places in between that you could try. Kerry Head Cycleway is a nice linear route with some lovely coastal views. A nice hike would be a little further up the coast at Ballybunion, a loop walk this time to Lahardane and back. Slightly more inland there is another loop walk called the Sive Walk. Starting and finishing in Listowel town and venturing out into the nearby bogland before returning to the square.

Even further inland would bring you towards Abbeyfeale and the Limerick Greenway This is a linear route again but you can always walk as far as you can and then double back on yourself. Alternatively, you could start at Rathkeale and walk towards Abbeyfeale! :)

You may wish to stop a little closer to Dingle and venture into Killarney National Park, plenty of walks, hikes, and things to see and do!

Hopefully, this will give you some ideas for the time between your stops.

How long will you be with us for?

Hi Martin,

Thanks for the good leads! Total trip is March 10-18, so we've got stays planned for Youghal, Killarney, Dingle, Ballyheigue, and Adare.

Hello Mary,

You have a nice itinerary planned! 🗺️

If you have a little more time to spare in Dingle and Killarney, there are plenty of historic sites that may be of interest to you.

If you move from Dingle, for example, you can visit places that have more than 6,000 years of history, including along the Kerry coastline. There's Gallarus Oratory, an Early Christian church, Coumeenoole Beach, with its views of the Blasket Islands and there's the Conor Pass, the highest mountain road in Ireland. Here you can find more information.

Don't miss the Ring of Kerry with its cycling route as well. 🚲

If you have any other question, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We look forward to having you in Ireland! ☘️
