My wife and I would like to undertake a tour of the Jamieson and Guinness plants on the afternoon of the Saturday 13th May. Is it possible to book in advance and if so, what would be the best way to book in?

Is there a 4 or 6 hour orientation tour of Dublin that you would recommend we book for Sunday May 14th is a Sunday and I'm not sure if "tourist" services are available on Sunday's but if they are we would be happy to take up these options on a Sunday.

Any assistance or recommendations will be appreciated.

We will have access to a car on Sunday 14 May.

Thanks and regards.

Hi Mauro,

What did you have in mind for your orientation tour? I think the Hop-on-Hop-Off bus would be great as it runs on a Sunday as required. I would also recommend checking out our article on Dublin's top attractions, as this can help you devise a short list. However, if you let me know what you had in mind I can make some recommendations tailored to your taste.

In terms of pre-booking tours, you can certainly book both of these tours in advance, you can find tickets for the Guinness Storehouse experience here, and Jameson here

Let me know what you think!

Cathaoir - maidin mhaith agus is mór agam do chabhair.
Thank you so much for your quick reply.
We arrive into Dublin from Oz approx 8pm Fri 12 May - (and getting a taxi to the Dunboyne hotel) - so we would want to do something pretty light on Sat afternoon 13 May (eg: probably the two churches - St Pats and Christ church).
Then Sunday 14 May - the Dublin Coastal walk in the morning (Howth Head with the Dublin Coastal Hike and Pints) then the Guinness storehouse or Jameson's on Sunday afternoon (depending on availability).
Then Monday we have a free day - before we leave for Galway on Tuesday 16 May.

So Monday 15 May I was thinking of a walking tour of approx 4 or so hours starting in the mid morning (we are in our 60's).
We love walking around a city and viewing old buildings and finding out the history of particular places - I also have a thing for Viking and military history (the early 1900's rebellion etc, would be appropriate).

I've done a little research about places, etc in Dublin, but having some more professional advice in different/other options would be fantastic.

Thank you so much and look forward to any suggestions.

Regards and grazie - Mauro

PS - I understand Galway is about 3 hours drive from Dublin - is that correct?
We have a walking tour of Galway arranged for Tuesday afternoon 16 May but nothing planned for 17 May as yet.

Hi Mauro,

I'm impressed by your Irish skills! It looks like you have a wonderful itinerary planned so far, especially for Saturday and Sunday.

For your free day on Monday, there are plenty of good walking tours that you join in Dublin. Given your interest in military history, one such tour that I would recommend is the 1916 Rebellion Walking Tour.

I have taken this tour myself and found it very informative and enjoyable. I'm sure you will as well. The tour begins at 11.30 am on Mondays and lasts for around two hours. You can book tickets on the above link.

As for travelling from Dublin to Galway, yes, you should be able to manage it in a little under three hours, traffic dependent.

Regards,
Eoin
