Transport from Kilkenny to Dublin

We are taking the train from Dublin to Kilkenny on July 5. We want to return to Dublin on the same day sometime around 17:00. Unfortunately the train back to Dublin is either at 15:00 or 19:00. What other transportation could we take from Kilkenny to Dublin?

As an alternative to the train, you can catch a bus back to Dublin in less than 2 hours. I can recommend this journey planner, where you can simply enter departure and arrival points. Click "Show more schedules" until your desired departure times are displayed. Around 5pm on the 5th of July, there should be 2 bus options available to you: JJ Kavanagh & Sons at 4.50pm or Dublin Coach at 5.45pm. Please visit the website of the bus operator of your choice to confirm this schedule and buy your tickets.
