Hi

Is there a book I can buy to better understand Ireland’s railway system. I’m starting to formulate an agenda and would like to familiarize myself with the railways as I go from county to county.

What are your intended travel plans by rail? 

Some starting points for resources would be the Irish Rail and Transport for Ireland websites. We also have some pages like Ireland by Rail and 5 Magical Ireland railway journeys that are well worth checking out.

We also got a thread about public transportation passes and I believe Irish Rail has an Explorer travel ticket or Trekker pass you might find suitable for your upcoming trip.
