Hi Eoin
That is the EXACT hotel I booked for my last night. I found it on your informative website!
It is safe to walk around at night correct?
Christina
Can’t wait!!
Are there any animals around besides the Dublin zoo?

Hi guys.
LIke Eoin recommended, I booked my hotel at Beresford the last night before I head home to the States. I would love to see the irish working sheep dog demonstration in Kildare before I leave. do you know of a bus company that does day trip out there? Do I need to book a private taxi? It looks like its 40 minutes away from the hotel. I checked day trip on your sites that you recommended and I did not see anything. I did email Michael from the irish working sheep dog website and asked him as well.
Thank you
christina w

Hi Christina,

What a coincidence! The Beresford is well located, close to the main bus station and the Liffey and it's totally safe to walk around at night.
For animals in Dublin, I would suggest Phoenix Park with its deer population. Otherwise, you could reach the coast with the DART train in 30 min and see seals in Howth Harbour if you are lucky. You may also be interested in these options for a half-day trip , if you can spare the time of course.

As for getting to Kildare, the fastest way would indeed be a taxi (more info on getting one can be found here, but you could ask the Beresford Hotel to book one for you). Busses would take at least 2H30, which isn't ideal before catching a flight. I can see that the company Wild Rover Tours offers a day tour that includes a sheep dog demonstration. Is your flight late at night and could you spend the day on a tour?

Let us know how it goes :)

Hello guys
I want to thank you for answering all my much needed questions since January. Now the time has come to my much anticipated trip to Ireland. I leave Monday night. So excited. I think I have everything booked pretty much but I wanted to leave some free time to just relax and go with the flow. I did get a ticket to Kilmainham  and Guinness. I hope to get off plane Tuesday am, catch the Aircoach  then go to a cafe near the hotel and relax. I will try to hit the ground walking all day Tuesday. Thank you again for all the info. Hope to maybe bump into you

Hello guys
I am sorry it has taken me so long to write and let you know about my solo trip to Ireland in May to the beginning of June. It was fantastic. At some points it was nerve racking trying to understand the buses and trams but I chose to just walk and walk. When i arrived I went to the hotel then Trinity college, National Museum of History and Museum of Archeology. Throughout my trip in Dublin I saw Cliffs of Moher through a tour group. Went to Temple Bar and The Quay. Went to KIlmainham Gaol, Guinness storehouse and tour. Went on a Literary Pub crawl and met great people. Saw great Pubs. Ate some great foods. Went to St Patricks Cathedral and Christ Church. Both awesome. Went on a train to Belfast. Ate at great restaurants in Belfast including The Lantern, The Himalayan, Little Wings (I think), Cu Mexican and Belfast City Hall restaurant and Gnostic. Also went to the Antrium coast, Murlough Bay, Bushmills distillery, and Glenariff Falls. I visited the great Hillsborough Castle and garden. Experienced St Georges Market and the food there was amazing. The stuff there was interesting. I also took a Giants Causeway tour and went through the Dark Hedges and saw Dunluce castle as well as Belfast castle. Went on a Belfast City walking tour which I recommend. Visited many shops. Went to the Titanic Museum. Went on a Black Taxi tour which I highly recommend. Went to the MAC ate lunch there. Went to the Game of Thrones Studio tour which was very interesting. Went to Cathedral quarters. Went to Dublin zoo. And finally attended a cooking class in Dublin.
I am sure I am missing a bunch of things I saw or visited. Overall it was a fantastic experience. Everyone was very nice and forthcoming. Met nice people and have penpals. If I had to chose again where to go I would say Belfast felt more authentic. People felt like they were actually from there. When i visited Dublin I felt like people were implants. People I talked to were not from Ireland. I wrote in a journal each day of my experienced, day trips, foods I tried, people I met. The airports and customs were a little scary but people were so kind and helpful. The weather was good. Very windy but overall it did not rain until I arrived in Belfast. I saw a rainbow too. Then I came home tired and drained from doing so much which I enjoyed and LOVED. But I caught covid and got essentiallly a vaction from my vacation. It was 110% worth every penny and being sick to have a trip of a lifetime. Thank you all for your help. I was truly  grateful for receiving great answers to the questions I asked. It was a little nerve racking to go to another country by myself which was the first time I was out of the country. I stayed with my friend's aunt while I was in Belfast. That was very helpful. Although I only met her twice or so she was willing to house me and show me around when she was not working. For the most part I was on my own. Thank you again!!
Sincerely,
Christina W
