McDermott's Castle

Is it possible to visit the castle or is it not allowed to even step ashore the island?

Castle Island is in private ownership, so it is only possible to view it from the water. Lough Key Boats operates boat tours and rentals so that you can get close to the island and see the castle but you are not able to dock. 🚣The castle is in fragile condition as its age takes over.

Thank you for your reply. I will possibly visit the area, not sure yet as am still planning what to do on the way from Dublin to Galway. McDermott's castle was the first thing to catch my eye.

How nice, Anssi! I hope you'll make it to Mc Dermott's Castle (the drone shots of the castle island look straight out of a fairytale to me).
