Thanks for taking the time to ask your question, Adrienne!

The first thing to suggest would be that you contact your current provider to see what they offer as far as roaming and the charges in Ireland for making calls. 📱

Most people would indeed get a sim card at the airport as this is usually their first port of call. Most of the newsagents carry the most popular sim cards to buy and top up, for example, Dublin Airport has the Spar as well as other shops in the terminal area. 🛬

If you don't get the chance at the airport, then you will find similar shops in the cities and towns to get a sim card. The providers Three, Lyca Mobile, Vodafone, and An Post all have PAYG sim cards available, they all will work for your time with us.

One of the current offers that we have on our website is for the provider Wificandy.ie. They have both a sim and mini wifi unit available if you need to share the connectivity with a someone else as you travel.

Have you an itinerary all sorted out for your visit?

We have an itinerary planned but still need to book two nights accommodation in Dublin?  We are 2 adults never been before and would like to stay in the downtown area.......... Any recommendations would be great, I have been looking at the many hotels to get an idea, I do realize some do not have A/C so that is a requirement, also do the rooms provide a safe for valuables...

Hi Adrienne!

Sounds like your trip is already well planned!

Where to stay in Dublin is subject to personal preference and the proximity to attractions you intend to visit. Are there any on your list?
I'd say anywhere around the Liffey River is quite central. Temple Bar, Merrion Square or O'Connell Street would be good choices. We got a handy article about Dublin's neighborhood to help you make a decision, as well as an accommodation search tool that I pre-filtered on Dublin City.

Also, note that most hotels in Ireland don't have air conditioning, since the climate isn't usually hot enough, but they usually have a safe.

Let us know how it goes. :)

Hi Adrienne!

I just wanted to add something to the already many great suggestions here.

Did you know that you can also buy e-sims? These are basically online sim cards that you can download onto your phone, and give you unlimited data. You can buy one already while you are in Canada.

You can check out Maya or Nomad.

Have fun on your trip!
