We are looking for advice on making the most of a month long stay. We have never travelled to Ireland and are interested in determining a central location to be our hub for mostly day trips to see as much of the country as we can. Suggestions please? Thanks!

For one month in Ireland, you should stay in Galway. It is a good place to be because it is central and makes visiting places like the Cliffs of Moher, Connemara, and the Aran Islands easy. You can also go to the Ring of Kerry and Killarney National Park from there without much trouble. Galway’s lively city vibe is also a great bonus for evenings. Enjoy your trip!

Hi there,

Avery, thanks so much for your great recommendation! I agree that Galway would be a fantastic hub, as it is both a lovely town filled with music, and at the same time a convenient venture point, as you said, to reach stunning sites such as the Cliffs of Moher, Aran Islands, Connemara, or the Burren. 🗺️

Kathleen, I personally would even recommend considering two or perhaps three locations as your bases, if you really wish to see as much of the country as possible! 😊 Some amazing places are further apart than you might think, partly due to smaller winding country roads to some of the more remote hidden gems. As Avery mentioned, Galway would be a handy spot for you to experience the west coast. The southern peninsulas are quite special and you could conveniently reach them from Cork or Killarney. If you picked a second/third base for instance in the North or along the east coast, you could easily explore these parts of the island too.

I think it might help if you started a list of places that you absolutely wish to visit, and then see which spot(s) would be a good base to conveniently reach those places. Do you maybe have a bucket list already? 📚

Best wishes
Rebecca 💚
