My husband and I are trying to plan a trip in November.  We actually purchased plane tickets for November 11-19, 2024.  We are hoping to stay in 3 or 4 areas - possibly those outlined above.   But we are also wanting to do bus tours to see the things we would like to get to see in those areas.   We are a little intimidated with driving.
1)   Are taxis readily accessible to get to/from hotels and pick up points in these cities;
2)   I realize that Dublin is probably very easy to travel around.  But what about Galway, Cork and Killarney?  Would they be more difficult.
3)   Would we be too limited without our own transportation to see things especially in smaller towns?  Possibly things without the freedom of the car.
Thank you for your input,

Susan and Charlie LeBlanc

Hello Susan and Charlie,

It's exciting that you're planning a trip to Ireland!

On your November trip to Ireland, taxis are readily available in Dublin, Galway, Cork, and Killarney, though in smaller towns like Killarney, pre-booking is advisable. Dublin is very easy to navigate with public transport, while Galway, Cork, and Killarney are walkable cities with access to taxis and local buses. Though Killarney is smaller, it’s still well-served by transportation options, especially for tourists.

You’ll find plenty of convenient day tour options in Killarney, Cork, Galway.  These cities have well-organized public transport and local tour operators that provide excellent day trips to popular spots like the Cliffs of Moher, Connemara Ring of Kerry, and Blarney Castle. With a combination of taxis, public transportation, and day tours, you can comfortably explore Ireland's top attractions without the need for a car.

Let me know if you have any other questions,
Cathaoir
