Good morning. I will in NI from the US in early October. My group has a couple of days set aside for stops in Belfast. I will have a rental car and considering how to avoid driving within the city. We will be coming up from Annalong each day. What would you suggest for me to investigate for entering the city? Your help is appreciated much. 1) Parking option, 2) parking outside the city and using public transportation?  As an example, our first stop is the CS Lewis museum.

Thank you -

Hi Tom,

How exciting to hear you and your group will be spending some time in Belfast soon! 😊

I think parking your car outside the city centre and using public transport for the rest of your way is a great idea. There are several options available from which you can choose to suit your itineraries. This website by the city council lists a number of free and charged car parks they run, and shares further useful information. Larger train stations and shopping centres usually have paid, private car parks too, but those might potentially be a bit too far into the city centre. VisitBelfast lists a further few parking options - especially the 'Translink Park & Ride' section with a map might be useful to you.

The journey planner by the transport company 'Translink' (also available as an app) can then help you find the best connection to your destination. Perhaps the Belfast Visitor Pass could be of interest too, as it conveniently offers both unlimited travel on public transport (within a specified zone) and discounts on some attractions and activities.

I hope this helps! How are you planning to spend your time in Belfast, and Northern Ireland? 👣📸

Happy planning!
