Hallo

I am looking for a authentic and cosy place to stay for Christmas and New Years in Ireland. I am 51 years old, from Norway and  I will go by myself. I am used to travel by myself.
I will appreciate any help from you the locals, as you often knows where is a great to go and spend this time of year.
I am looking forward for any suggestions and help on the way :-)

All the best, Marit

Hi Marit,

It's good to hear that you are planning to visit Ireland next month. Solo travelling in Ireland is always a lot of fun and I would encourage you to check out these top solo travel tips for ideas and advice.

If you're looking for cosy places to visit, here's a list of some highly recommended cosy retreats on the island. Also, as you'll be visiting during the festive season, this Christmas in Ireland page might offer you some ideas about what to see and do during your time here.

If you're interested in meeting people during your visit, our local pubs and B&Bs are often great places to do so.

I hope this information will help as you plan your trip.

Regards,
Eoin

Hi Marit!

I'd love to know if you've already picked your destination.

As a fellow female solo traveler who has solo-travelled Ireland before settling down on the West Coast, I just wanted to put my recommendations out there for you.
I'd personally staying in a smaller town, as it will be very easy for you to make friends and get help from locals.
Have you considered a place like Achill Island, or the lesser-known Clare Island off the coast of Mayo for a truly immersive and authentic experience?

Besides, I can also highly recommend Dingle for Christmas and New Years Eve. Dingle is very popular for Christmas because the town celebrates Wren's Day (or St Stephen's Day), and has a big NYE's celebration with fireworks. There's also lots of traditional B&B's to choose from.

Happy holidays,

Alinde
