We are excited about the idea of being able to go to Ireland as a family for a long time. Depending on whether we find work, it would be a few weeks or a whole year. We have a motorhome and we see that in some campsites it is not allowed to rent for long stays. I wanted to know if anyone knows of a place where I can live with my family, even work and send my son to school. I have heard a lot about farms and I also think it is a fascinating idea. Every corner of Ireland that we can see and read about seems incredible! However, I read comments that one of the best regions to live in a motorhome due to the climate is from Dublin to Cork.

I hope someone can give me some tips for our stay in Ireland!

Hello Roberto!

How exciting that you're planning to explore Ireland with your family in a motorhome!🚐🌈  Ireland is full of wonderful places to discover, and you’re absolutely right—there's so much charm in every corner of the island, from Dublin all the way to Cork.🌿

For longer stays, I’d recommend looking into WWOOF (Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms) and Workaway, where you can find opportunities to work on farms in exchange for accommodation. Many families have enjoyed these kinds of experiences!

You might also want to check out some campsites that stay open all year round—for example, you can see a few options at Camping Ireland Sites Open Year-Round, though it’s worth checking if they offer off-season long-stay arrangements.

For your son’s schooling, the Citizens Information website has helpful info about enrolling kids in schools and other things to keep in mind as an EU citizen. I’m sure there are plenty of expatriate groups on Facebook where other families share their experiences—good luck with your search, Roberto!

I’m sure your time in Ireland will be filled with adventure and beautiful memories. ☘️

Let me know if you need any more tips for your trip or some inspiration while on the island!

Best wishes,

Vivian
