Easter time in Ireland 2025

We arrive at Easter and want to know if Trinity College and The book of Kells will be open Easter Sunday. If not what can we see? 
Easter Monday we want to visit Galway from Dublin. I cannot locate train schedules for Easter Monday or should  we rent a car on Easter Monday somewhere in Dublin. We are staying in Phibsborough and eventually wish to return car to Airport. We r savvy travellers but we r out of our depth with the Easter Holidays and want to maximise our time in this beautiful country.

While Easter Monday (21st of April) is the only official public holiday during Easter, some businesses remain closed during the long weekend, or open later / close earlier; public transport often operates at a reduced schedule. I recommend checking the website of any attraction you would like to visit, and get in touch directly should you have doubts about their opening hours.

The Book of Kells Experience seems to be running as usual on Easter Sunday - tickets are available for booking on this day. You can plan and book your train journey from Dublin to Galway via the website of Irish Rail, I can see various options here for Easter Monday. Should you prefer to hire a car instead, I recommend checking with the car rental company directly to find out about their opening hours during Easter, as well as options regarding pick-up and return locations. A list of reliable car rental companies is provided by the Car Rental Council of Ireland.
