Hi Linda,
It's great that you’re bringing your dog along for the adventure! 🐾💚
Because you're going from the Netherlands to Ireland via the UK, this is seen as coming from outside the EU. So even though you're starting in the EU, you’ll need to follow the rules for pets coming from a non-EU country when you arrive in Ireland. To make things a little easier, it might help to think of it as two separate steps, each with their own rules.
First, for traveling from the Netherlands to the UK, you’ll need to follow the UK’s pet travel requirements. You can find all the official information
here. Then, when you continue from the UK to Ireland, Ireland treats this as a pet arriving from outside the EU. So the EU entry rules for pets from non-EU countries apply. You can read more about that
here.
To make sure nothing important is missed, I’ve linked the official websites above. They have the most up-to-date and complete information. if you’re also on the lookout for some lovely pet-friendly places to stay in Ireland,
this list might come in handy.
It’s definitely a bit of extra planning, but once everything’s in place, it should all go smoothly.
If anything’s still unclear, feel free to reply. 😊
